We finally bought a clipper for DIY grooming for Chow Chow! Invested about $165 for Andis deluxe pet clipper 14 piece kit and tried using it to trim Chow Chow fur on Saturday after his bath.
My hubby did the honour of trimming off Chow Chow's fur. It's his first time and as expected the result was quite disastrous. Hubby tried his best but the fur is still uneven and Chow Chow now looks much slimmer with all the thick fur gone. We left the fur on his head alone cos the fur there is still soft and fluffy and we wanna grow his mane so that he will look even more like a lovable lion. The new short fur also helped us discover a nasty tick on Chow Chow's back when I ran my fingers along his back. Gross! We need to have precautions against the horrible fleas and ticks and mites! Especially since Chow Chow loves to frolick in the grass!
Here's Chow Chow new fur cut. What do you think? Does he look more like a Shiba Inu than a Chow Chow?
