The Escape Artist knows his way home

Okay...this is going to get repetitive and boring but I DID IT AGAIN! BOL! I ran away from home again, what else is new.

On Saturday, Mummy and Daddy left me at Granddad's house while they went for their weekly ante-natal class. I was so sad they couldn't bring me along. I'm sure I could pick up some baby-caring tips and do my duties well as a big brother to the baby! Anyway, I was hanging out in the garden when Granddad came home. In her haste to open the front gate for Granddad, Grandmum just leashed me quickly so that I wouldn't rush to the car porch and Granddad can park his car in the house safely. But because I wasn't leashed properly, I managed to wriggle out of the leash and I immediately ran out of the gate! The intention was to go look for my pawrents!

My poor Grandmum was freaking out and followed me out of the house. Granddad was worried too and even drove around the vicinity to look for me. The more I see Grandmum following me, the faster I ran. Frankly, I have no idea where I was going and decided to explore the neighbourhood for a bit. I soon came to an area whom I think my friend Romeo and his Mummy stays in, because I remembered I saw them here when my pawrents and I were in the car and we drove passed them. I was trying to locate Romeo's house so that I can pay him a surprise visit! I sniffed around, hoping to detect Romeo's scent but no luck at all. It was getting boring after a while and I couldn't see Grandmum or Granddad anymore (by then they have already given up looking for me and returned home). The afternoon heat was getting to me and there were no mud puddles for me to cool myself in. BORING! Where are the big dogs to play with when you need them?

I decided to just head back home so that I can chill in the house and wait for my pawrents to return. It wasn't too difficult to find my way back cos I just needed to sniff around and follow my pee-mails which will lead me to my destination. Boy, you should see my Granddad's face when he saw me standing outside the gate! He couldn't believe that I have returned! BOL! He went straight into the house to grab my favourite sliced barberqued pork and used that to lure me into the house. Of course I can never resist this special treat and I went straight for the yummy meat the moment the gate was opened for me. BOL!

I wish I can show you just how far I ran away but I couldn't post a picture of the map. Anyway, Romeo, if you are reading this, you would be able to tell. From my grandpawrents' place in Namly Garden to Jalan Lim Tai See / Lim Tai See walk area and back! Geez, is that far? I didn't feel it's that far but my grandpawrents reckoned it was!

A close shave...with death!

Towards the end of last week, I caused my pawrents quite a bit of a heart attack! I don't really wanna blog about this but my Mummy insists I let the whole world know what I did so that other doggies will not learn from me and that their pawrents can also try to prevent such things from happening to their furkids, should it happen one day *touch wood!*.

On Friday evening, my pawrents were getting ready to go to Grandpa's house for dinner and as usual, they had to coax me to get into the car boot. The car boot is not exactly my favourite place in the world and as usual, I tried to wriggle my way out of it. I backed away while Daddy pulled the leash (and me) towards him. Just then, the leash which was tied round my neck ride up my head and with a couple of pulling and wriggling actions, the leash came loose and I was free!

I ran around the estate in full speed, missing cars that came in and out of the car park by seconds. Daddy told Mummy to stay put while he chased after me. Mummy was freaking out already but she tried her best to remain calm and stayed at the car, waiting for our return.

I ran and ran, and seeing Daddy hot on my heels, I ran even faster and soon, I reached the edge of a busy road. Cars and big trucks were zooming by, it was really exciting! I had to stop for a while as I suddenly had to urge to poop. I was happily doing my business at the side of the road when Daddy came up to me and quickly put the leash around me. I struggled again and managed to break free. Poor Daddy was not as agile as me and he fell and suffered some scratches on his fingers and palms. Luckily he missed my pile of freshly-pooped poo!

I dashed across the busy road and even turned back to look at Daddy. The vehicles must be really excited to see me too cos they were making lots of noise with their horns. Somehow, I managed to cross two busy roads and reached the other side of the neighbourhood. Some vehicles were close enough to sniff my butt but they all braked in time to avoid me. I wonder why.

Anyway, I arrived at one of my favourite part of the neighbourhood because there are many doggies living in the big houses here and I have plenty of peemail to check out. While replying to one of the peemail, Daddy suddenly sneaked up on me and grabbed my tail. Well, Daddy was pretty mad at me for making him run all the way here at this point, and for ignoring his commands to COME. He grabbed me real tightly and before I know it, I was leashed again. Oh well, end of my adventure for now.

My pawrents were really mad at me for running away (again) and ignored me the whole time we were at Grandpa's place. I gave them a pathetic and innocent look, but they just glared at me. So I kept my distance, especially from Daddy who were staring daggers at me when I peeped at him.

Erm, there's a second part to my "horror" story. After dinner at Grandpa's house, we were getting ready to go home when again I refused to get up into the car. Daddy bent over to carry me but I backed away and this time, my tail missed the rolling tyres of an oncoming car by millimetres! Actually, come to think of it, some strands of fur from my fluffy tail were CRUSHED by the tyres! But it's ok cos I have lots of fur to spare!

That's not the end of my story. On Saturday, we went to Granddad's house (FYI, Grandpa is Mummy's father and Granddad is Daddy's father) and before the car boot was opened, I saw a golden retriever taking a walk at the side of the road. I was really excited to see him and leaped off the car the moment the door was opened, forgetting to listen to my pawrents' command (they have to say OK before I can get off the car). In my eagerness to go and say hi to the golden retriever, I lept off the car too quickly and somehow sprained my front paw when I landed on the road. It hurts very much and I whined real loudly and for a long time too. The lady walking the golden was taken aback by my loud cries and quickly walk away. My painful paw didn't allow me to rush over to the golden. In fact, I sat down immediately and cry out in pain. My pawrents groaned again and gave me a huge lecture. Thank god, the pain went away soon enough and I stopped limping by the end of the night.

I ran away again...

For the 5th time. Or was it the 6th?

This morning, Ddady took me out for my usual morning walk. Something was tickling me and I started to spin around trying to shake it away. Daddy doesn't like my spinning cos he thinks I'm acting crazy again. He tugged at the leash and my somehow my collar came loose and I was off-leashed! Woohoo...I love to be free! And I ran away as fast as I could, enjoying the little breeze in my fur. Daddy tried to get me back but no way am I going to let him catch me so easily. I need to enjoy my freedom first! Daddy gave up looking for me after I disappeared from his sight and he couldn't find me anywhere. I'm really good at hide and seek!

Poor Daddy had to break the bad news to Mummy who was still asleep. When Mummy heard that I was gone, she leaped out of bed immediately and wanted to go and find me. Daddy was worried to see Mummy so emotional and he didn't want her to go and chase after me, in case she hurt herself. Mummy could spot me throtting happily across the basketball court downstairs to the opposite block and off again Daddy goes to look for me.

Mummy was so worried she kept watch at the balcony hoping to see me. 15 minutes later, Daddy managed to find me and put the collar on me again cos I was too tired to run away from him and I wanted to go home as well. Mummy was so happy to Daddy and me returning home, but she never fail to give me a light slap on my furry butt and stared at me fiercely with her teary eyes.

As for me, I was so hot, thirsty and tired I collapsed onto the cool balcony floor and slurp at my water bowl heartily.

Prison Break!

I made Mummy and Daddy sooooooooo angry yesterday. For the second time in the week, I escaped from the house when Mummy opened the gate to go out and instead of just loitering in the corridor as usual, I went all the way down from the 7th floor to the ground floor! Woohooo! It was so fun running away and exploring the estate....without the stupid leash! Mummy doesn't seem to have a fun bone in her body. She was terribly upset and chased after me. Of course I will never let her catch up. Whenever I see her approaching, I would run faster and further away! This really made her panic! Cunning Mummy even pretend to have treats in her hand, and tried to trick me to go to her. C'mon! I know there is no treat cos she wouldn't have the time to run into the house to get any treats for me! Hah! Besides, running away is a much more attractive option than those silly treats. Try harder, Mummy!

I ran around, stopping only occasionally to sniff at the plants. Everyone stared at me and a few silly girls screamed when they saw me appearing behind their back. I even found a party where there were food and people gathering around! Mummy kept calling me and said in a frantic tone "Don't go there Chow Chow. That's a funeral!" As if I know what that means.

I went to so many new places and found a piece of bread and ate it immediately! Yum! All this while, Mummy was following me, pretending to be friendly and strolled along, and then tried a few time to get hold of me. But I'm too fast and too slippery for her! Thank god it was drizzling! Mummy was almost driven to tears when I'm near a small road and some vehicles were coming along, with their bright headlights flashing.

Somehow, Mummy managed to grabbed me. I think I was distracted by something on the ground. She held onto to me so tightly! Then she lifted me up and carried me home. All this while she was muttering that I am so heavy and she panted away like she was chased by a dozen dogs. C'mon, I was the one being chased here! Apparenly, I was so heavy and she was so weak that she had to propped me against the pillar to readjust me in her arms, twice! At one point she put me down, cos she was too tired and I was struggling so much. But of course, she never let go of me even while catching her breath. After one minute of resting, she carried me again and by then I was just too tired as well to squirm like a worm in her arms.

I collasped on to the floor when we entered the lift. Gosh, we were both looking at each other and panting away so much, we would have won a gold in sychronized panting! Mummy screamed for Daddy to help her when the lift door opened. Poor me, I got an extremely stern warning from Daddy. Mummy left the house soon after cos she was already half an hour late for her appointment.

My Prison Break plan has foiled. Mummy and Daddy have decided not to take chances and they said one of them will grab me if the other one needs to open the gate. Now, I need to brainstorm for more brillant ideas on how to outwit my parents!
