Chow Chow's dog tag

We finally gotten Chow Chow his dog tag! It was done at the ASD booth at the AVA Pet Ownership Roadshow. We picked a simple bone tag and his name and my contact number were written on the tag. The tag was baked in a toaster oven so that it will shrink to a small, nifty size. This is how it looks like.

Destructive Dog

Chow Chow recently bit on the cable of my Ikea lamp and now we can no longer use it! Naughty Chow Chow!

Two months ago, he bit on our speakers' wire and so we can longer use the speakers too!

And of course when he first arrived, he gnawed on the tea table legs when he was resting under his fave spot.

A lot more things would also have been destroyed by Chow Chow had we not discover his mischief and stopped him in time.

Chow Chow and Sarah the Mannequin

Saturday was a rather uneventful day. The weather was gloomy and it looked like it was going to pour anytime. So we stayed home instead of heading to the dog park.

These are some pictures of Chow Chow posing next to Sarah the Mannequin - when I was trying to take pictures of the clothes that I'm going to launch in my online shop.

Marley & Me

I've just finished ready Marley & Me and I totally love it! This book is highly recommended for everyone, not just dog lovers. All dog-owners will be able to identify with the author and you will see some attributes of your dog in Marley, the canine hero in the based on true-life story. The leash tugging and animal chasing antics of Marley is pretty similar to that of Chow Chow's. Sometimes I feel that the book is talking about me and my dog!

The Marley & Me story is so successful that the movie version has been produced! Starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, this family comedy is a must-watch on my list! I bet I will shed buckets, just like I did when I read the book. The story is funny and touching, with valuable life lessons and heartwarming moments between owner and dog.

Do read the book and catch the movie once it hits the big screen!

The Letter Game

Team Husky has sent us the "T" letter - for The Letter Game!

Okie, here are the 10 things which Chow Chow loves, that starts with the letter "T":

1. Trips - Chow Chow loves a trip to the park, around the neighbourhood, to the grandparents' place or just to the nearby supermarket. As long as it's not long car rides. Chow Chow loves to explore and walk instead. :)

2. Treats - All dogs love treats! And Chow Chow loves treats of all sorts! His new fave is the ice cube. He can play, lick and bite at ice cubes all day long!

3. Toys - Soft, stuffed animals are the best. Chow Chow loves his stuffed toy rabbit and it's the perfect chew and chase toy for him. Not forgetting his rope toy too, that's his second fave! And his third fave is the hard, rolling and bouncing tennis ball!

4. Tasting new food - Chow Chow is quite adventurous when it comes to trying out new food. He had his first piece for rockmelon yesterday, and he loves it! Chow Chow just eats whatever I give him and he slurps up homecooked food on double time!

5. Terriers and other dogs - Chow Chow is a friendly dog and enjoys sniffing butts and playing chase with his furry friends at the Park.

6. Tables - Chow Chow's fave spots in the house are below the tables. In the day, he would snug below the coffee table to take naps. In the evening, he would lie below the dining table while hubby and I have our dinner. Sometimes, when he is good, I would let him into the study and he would sprawl near my feet under the study table to day dream.

7. Tugging his leash - This is more of a bad habit. Chow Chow tugs his leash everytime we go for walks. He tends to wander off leash to sniff at the plants or tugs hards ahead to chase the birds.

8. Trees - Chow Chow is a nature lover. He would sniff and pee at every single tree along the path.

9. Tail-chewing - Chow Chow likes to spin round and round, sometimes chewing his own tail. Is this his way of grooming? Or is he trying to relieve an itch? Hubby says that's his way of showing frustration, but I'm not too sure about that.

10. T-bone - Or any sort of bone. He loves to chew them and would never miss one out when they are within his sight.

There you have it! 10 things that Chow Chow loves starting with the letter "T". If you wanna play the Letter Game too, just let me know and we will send you your letter! :)

This is Chow Chow trying to form the letter "T". But it looks more like letter "C"!

Cha Cha the other Chow Chow

We went to the AVA Pet Ownership Roadshow at the Expo on Sunday afternoon without Chow Chow. I wanted to bring Chow Chow there initially but hubby didn't want to cos Chow Chow is quite a handful when he is outside and we don't want him to get too worked up at the sight of the other doggies.

At the Roadshow, we saw this super cute cream Chow Chow. She was there as part of the Awesome Pawsome Dog Training demonstration. Her owner was very nice and allow everyone to take picture with her girl.

Cha Cha is 11-month-old and was found by her current owner on the street. She has grown to her full size now, which in my opinion is rather small by Chow Chow's standard, but the perfect size nevertheless. I hope my Chow Chow doesn't grow too big. His body length is already longer than Cha Cha. Cha Cha is a vegetarian, perhaps that is why she is smaller in size?

There are many other dogs which are just so adorable. We spotted this great dane which is so tame and well-behaved. He was the key animal in the training demonstration.

New ugly fur cut

We finally bought a clipper for DIY grooming for Chow Chow! Invested about $165 for Andis deluxe pet clipper 14 piece kit and tried using it to trim Chow Chow fur on Saturday after his bath.

My hubby did the honour of trimming off Chow Chow's fur. It's his first time and as expected the result was quite disastrous. Hubby tried his best but the fur is still uneven and Chow Chow now looks much slimmer with all the thick fur gone. We left the fur on his head alone cos the fur there is still soft and fluffy and we wanna grow his mane so that he will look even more like a lovable lion. The new short fur also helped us discover a nasty tick on Chow Chow's back when I ran my fingers along his back. Gross! We need to have precautions against the horrible fleas and ticks and mites! Especially since Chow Chow loves to frolick in the grass!

Here's Chow Chow new fur cut. What do you think? Does he look more like a Shiba Inu than a Chow Chow?
